Hana to Ki no Kobo Mayflowers is a workshop run by a husband and wife team, Mr. and Mrs. Shibata, who are involved in creating craft works utilizing local resources in Minami-Alps City, Yamanashi Prefecture.
The wooden bowls are made from Yamanashi-grown cypress and are carefully finished one by one by hand. They are exceptionally lightweight compared to general wooden tableware, and their simple design fits comfortably in the hand for easy use.
A particularly pleasing point is that they are designed with sufficient durability and ease of handling to be chosen as everyday tableware, rather than for special occasions.
The coating used is a safe and durable prepolymer from Kotobuki Kako Co., Ltd., which is also used for food service ware. Despite its durability, it achieves a beautiful and natural finish that highlights the wood grain.
This prepolymer is the high-grade PS-NY3000, allowing you to use it without worry about food stains and with minimal care.
This prepolymer is carefully applied in approximately 15 coats, a process that takes considerable time and effort.
