FLOATINGPOINTS, PHAROAH SANDERS & THE LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA / PROMISES (LP)
A masterpiece by the genius Floating Points and the legend of spiritual jazz, Pharoah Sanders! An incredible collaboration that can only be described as astonishing! Floating Points x Pharoah Sanders!! A mind-blowing release where the top artist of the electronic music scene meets the legend of the spiritual jazz scene!
Floating Points, aka Sam Shepherd, is a producer who has made a name for himself with releases on prestigious labels such as Eglo Records, which he founded himself, as well as Pluto, Ninja Tune, and Planet Mu. His previous work, "Crush," received Best New Music from the UK magazine Pitchfork. This genius artist in the electronic music scene, who also holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, has collaborated with Pharoah Sanders, the successor to John Coltrane and a representative saxophonist in the spiritual jazz world, to create this highly anticipated new album, finally released on Luaka Bop, a label run by David Byrne of Talking Heads! The album features a magnificent suite of 9 tracks, spanning 46 minutes, where the beautiful performance by the London Symphony Orchestra intertwines with Floating Points' delicate electronic sounds and Pharoah Sanders' profound saxophone tones.
Furthermore, the artwork was created by Julie Mehretu, a contemporary Ethiopian artist selected as one of TIME magazine's "100 Most Influential People" in 2020. This is a truly artistic and exquisite record where every detail has been meticulously crafted!
