The latest album from DarWin, a progressive metal project featuring Simon Phillips, the world's top drummer, as co-producer and drummer, is set to be released! Joining on bass is the phenomenal female bassist Mohini Dey, who is already making waves with her first album. This is a super-powered rhythm section! Furthermore, with the participation of technical virtuosos like Greg Howe and Derek Sherinian, this progressive yet melodic hard rock/metal sound is a must-listen!

"DarWin is a journey of exploration into humanity's destiny and a world full of hardship, through progressive rock." - DW

DarWin emerged on the scene in 2018. While their profile was shrouded in mystery, their debut album, "Origin Of The Species," garnered support from a wide range of listeners, extending beyond the boundaries of progressive metal, with its rich melodies, dramatic arrangements, exceptional musicianship, and grand cosmic vision. The album also generated significant buzz due to the involvement of drummer Simon Phillips, known for his collaborations with Jeff Beck, Michael Schenker, and TOTO, not only as a performer but also as a co-producer. Now, after collaborating with accomplished musicians such as Billy Sheehan (Mr. BIG), Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater), and Guthrie Govan (The Aristocrats), DarWin will release their new album, "Five Steps On The Sun," in 2024. While DarWin has previously depicted total global concepts such as human evolution and climate change, this work ventures beyond the Earth's atmosphere. "One Step On The Sun," "Five Steps On The Sun," and "The Sun" are presented in a suite format, enhancing the instrumental sections and crafting an epic saga on a solar system scale.

Echoing this concept, the album brings together a formidable lineup of musicians. Simon Phillips and Greg Howe, a supremely technical guitarist who debuted on the "Shrapnel" label and also backed Michael Jackson, have been regular participants since the first album. The album also fully features Mohini Dey, a super bassist who tours with B'z and will be performing solo in Japan in August. In addition, Derek Sherinian, Andy Timmons, and Julian Pollack (J3PO) contribute their performances, engaging in a breathtaking hybrid technical battle that transcends metal, progressive, and fusion. Dave Lee Roth and Ringo Starr's band bassist Matt Bissonette joins as a vocalist, his powerful yet transparent voice expanding the soundscape. The basic tracks for this album were recorded live in a jam session format by DW, Simon, and Mohini at "Powerplay Studios" in Maur, Switzerland, successfully capturing a more raw and immediate feel.

"Every song is a 'journey.' It is filled with heart, care, and prayer," says DW. A new chapter in the evolution of rock will be written. Its title page will undoubtedly bear the name DarWin.
