This is a mini type of lantern with a hexagonal shape that leaves an impression, designed to be placed on a shelf.
It features a modern design that does not look out of place when displayed at the entrance or living room, and can also be used as interior decor.
It is a simple design lantern that can be assembled without tools. Please watch the video for assembly instructions.
It has a replaceable fire bag, so it can be used as a white mon-tem (white paper lantern) for the Shinbon (first Bon) (*1), and as a patterned lantern for subsequent Bon (*2), allowing for long-term use.
Only one pattern shade is included. Please choose either the blue candy pattern or the pink Hanamizuki (dogwood) pattern according to your preference.

*1 Shinbon refers to
The first Bon after the death of a person, after the 49th day of mourning, is called "Shinbon (First Bon)" (niibō, shinbō, hatsubon).
Shinbon is the day when the spirit of the deceased first returns home. It is customary to invite a priest to recite sutras and to serve food to those gathered.
Depending on the region, white lanterns without pictures are used for Bon. These white lanterns are used only in the year of Shinbon and are disposed of after the Bon period.
*2 The Bon after Shinbon refers to
In subsequent years, during the annual Bon, ceremonies are held to welcome the spirits of ancestors and close family members who have passed away.
It begins with the "Mukaebi" (welcoming fire) to greet the spirits and ends with the "Okuribi" (sending fire) to send them off.
Within households,Decorated Bon lanternsare displayed as Mukaebi and Okuribi to honor the spirits of ancestors and deceased family members.

【About the product】
Rokka-tō is a lantern that allows you to enjoy creating your own pattern.
You can make a white mon-tem for Shinbon and a patterned lantern with floral designs for subsequent Bon.
It has a simple construction where a wooden base is covered with a resin fire bag. Please see the video for detailed assembly instructions.

■ Creating a white mon-tem with shadow effects on the panel
After setting the pattern panel, cover it with a Japanese paper shade to complete.
The pattern panels include three麻の葉 (hemp leaf) patterns and three 七宝 (seven treasures) patterns, totaling six panels that can be set along a hexagon. The way you assemble them allows you to enjoy various pattern arrangements.
When lit, the shadow effects of the panels become prominent, giving an impression similar to a shade lamp. When turned off, the patterns are almost invisible.

■ Creating a floral-patterned lantern with patterned shades
You can choose from two types of patterned shades: Candy (blue) and Hanamizuki (pink). Please purchase your preferred one.
After setting the patterned shade, cover it with a Japanese paper shade to complete.
When lit, elegant floral patterns emerge through the Japanese paper. When turned off, the patterns are almost invisible.

To light the lantern, use a USB Type-C to Type-A cable (about 1 meter long) and a USB outlet.
The lantern's switch is operated via the ON/OFF switch on the base.
*It is not rechargeable.
*Available only as a set with a USB outlet for online sales. Please note that the stock of outlets may be unavailable at the Hasegawa altar shop.

【About Bon】
Bon is a ceremony to welcome the spirits of ancestors and close family members who have passed away into this world. It begins with the "Mukaebi" (welcoming fire) and ends with the "Okuribi" (sending fire).
Within households, Bon lanterns are displayed as Mukaebi and Okuribi to honor the spirits of ancestors and deceased family members. Since it is the time once a year when ancestors return, do your best to host them within your means.

Traditionally, white lanterns for Shinbonwere prepared by the family of the deceased, whilepatterned Bon lanterns (used every year)were generally prepared by relatives or acquaintances. However, due to recent changes in living environments, the display locations have shifted from Buddhist altar rooms to living rooms and other spaces, leading to a trend where the family of the deceasedprepares all lanterns and Bon supplies, while relatives and acquaintances offer offerings (cash, incense, etc.).Furthermore, the timing for starting to display varies by household. While the display is centered around the four days from the 13th (the first day of Bon) to the 16th (the last day), many households start decorating in the Bon month (July or August) in advance to avoid rushing on the day itself.

Hasegawa responds to various requests regarding Bon offerings and ceremonies.
