1. Goshō Four-inch White Mon Ten Stand
While traditional white lanterns for the new Obon are mainly hanging types, the White Mon Ten Stand is a miniature version of the traditional shape with a stand attached. It can be freely displayed near the Buddhist altar, entrance, or living room.
For households with a place to hang lanterns, it is also possible to decorate in a space-saving way without using the stand.
About LED candles
The LED candle resembling a candle uses a button cell (CR2032).
A test battery is included, so please use it as is first.
To replace the battery,
Open the main body cover.
Replace the button cell with the '+' side facing up.
Attach the cover.
Follow this order.
*The switch is the ON/OFF button on the back.
The light of the lantern is a 'guidepost' for loved ones
When the lantern light is turned on, it emits a natural orange glow similar to a candle flame.
Obon is an important event where loved ones return to your home once a year.
Please turn on the light at night with the wish 'Please come back without hesitation.'
*The string extending from the fire chamber is used to hang the lantern in a crossed state.
Product size (White Mon Ten)
The base is 13cm wide and 42cm high, a compact size.
Designed to be placed on a stand such as a shelf or chest, it is easy to decorate anywhere, making it convenient.
It can also be displayed at the entrance or living room, recommended for those who have no place to hang or prefer not to hang outside.
When you are finished using it,
The white lantern (this product) is used as a marker during the new Obon and will not be used in subsequent years.
Originally, lanterns were burned along with the fire for sending off the spirits, but now it is often difficult, so some people cut the fire chamber part slightly to burn it together or dispose of it according to local rules, avoiding fire altogether.
*The candle battery light can be used as an emergency light, etc.
*Please check the contents of the box and dispose of accordingly.
2. Spirit Lamp Small Match Type
The Spirit Lamp Match Type is a mini-sized spirit lamp with a rotating cylinder. Although it is a set of two, its compact size allows it to be quietly displayed near the altar shelf or on the side of a Buddhist altar.
The fire chamber features bright-colored flowers painted on it, giving a cute impression similar to a bonbori, with a gold chrysanthemum pattern on the top for a presence.
It can be used as a gift for those迎える Obon or for personal use.
A spirit lamp is, as the name suggests, intended to be displayed in front of the spirits, and can also be used as a post-funeral decoration.
It is economical as it can be used for both funerals and Obon for a long time.
Plug-in type for easy lighting
It uses a light bulb with a plug-in. There is no switch, so it can be used immediately after plugging in.
Creates a festive atmosphere for Obon with beautiful lighting
Set the rotating cylinder and turn on the light to enhance the festive mood.
Product size (Spirit Lamp)
Width 13 × Height 35cm, a compact size.
Designed to be placed on a stand such as a shelf or chest, easy to decorate anywhere.
When not in use,
It can be stored in the box.
The outer box size is also compact at 24cm wide × 11.5cm deep × 29cm high, saving space.
3. Bon Decoration Set Easy Type with Okara
This set consolidates items often used for Obon decorations:【Makomo, Okara, Cow and Horse Set, Lotus Leaf】.
Okara is used on the Houroku (hallowed fire) during welcoming and sending-off fires.
Makomo is placed on the altar shelf and used to ward off evil spirits, serving as a boundary marker.
Fruits, water balls, and other offerings are placed on the lotus leaves. Cow and horse are considered vehicles used to travel between the Pure Land and the present world.
Are you ready for Obon?
Obon is a ceremony to welcome the spirits of ancestors and loved ones who have passed away into this world. It begins with the '迎え火' (welcoming fire) and ends with the '送り火' (sending fire).
In households, lanterns are arranged as迎え火 and送り火 to honor the spirits of ancestors and deceased family members. Since it is the time once a year when ancestors return, do your best to welcome them with heartfelt hospitality.
Traditionally,White lanterns for the new Obonwere prepared by the family of the deceased, whilelanterns with painted designs (used annually) were generally prepared by relatives or acquaintances. However, due to recent changes in living environments, the way of decorating has shifted from Buddhist altar rooms to living rooms and other spaces, with families preparing all lanterns and supplies, while relatives and acquaintances often bring offerings (cash, incense, etc.).Furthermore, the timing of decoration varies by household. Decorations are usually started from the 13th (迎え盆) to the 16th (最終日), but since decorating on the day can be hectic, many start gradually during the Obon month (July or August).Hasegawa responds to various requests regarding Obon offerings and decorations.
