[Story]
A new semester begins at Ridgemont High in Southern California! Jeff Spicoli (Sean Penn), a perpetually stoned surfer, is late again today. He immediately catches the eye of Mr. Hand, the history teacher. Meanwhile, Stacy (Jennifer Jason Leigh), a naive freshman and the younger sister of popular student Brad (Judge Reinhold), receives love lectures from her experienced best friend Linda (Phoebe Cates).
Cameron Crowe ("Almost Famous") made a striking debut in the film industry by writing and adapting his own novel, based on his experiences posing as a high school student and interviewing students. The film cast newcomers who were unknown at the time but went on to become popular stars after this work. Young Eric Stoltz, Forest Whitaker, and Nicolas Cage also appear in supporting roles.
