Porous sponge is built inside the balls, securing a large area for filtration bacteria to colonize.
Filter media compatible with both freshwater and saltwater, effective in a wide range of breeding environments from goldfish and medaka to tropical and marine fish.

"The key to stable water quality is biological filtration." Ammonia and nitrite generated from fish waste and uneaten food are broken down by nitrifying bacteria colonized on the filter media into substances with low toxicity to fish.
By serving as a habitat for these nitrifying bacteria, this product supports water quality stabilization and the creation of a healthy breeding environment.

"Compatible with various aquarium filters and filtration systems." These are large-sized filter media recommended for use in larger filtration systems such as hang-on-back filters, undergravel filters, external filters, and sumps.
They are lightweight and may float when first used, but will gradually sink as they absorb water.
If the floating is a concern, place them in the included zippered mesh bag to sink them, or place them under sinking filter media.
A more stable filtration system can be built by combining them with other filter media such as ring-shaped media and activated carbon media.

"PP material that is unlikely to affect water quality." Made of polypropylene (PP) material, which is difficult to dissolve in water and unlikely to cause pH changes.
Gentle on living organisms and aquatic plants, they can be used in any environment, including freshwater tanks, saltwater tanks, and planted aquariums.
The durable material is resistant to breakdown and powdering, allowing for long-term use, and can be reused by simply rinsing lightly with aquarium water when dirty.
