It is important for the filling to have appropriate loft, a "fluffy" seating feel, and to resist flattening. While 100% cotton has been the mainstream filling, our Kufuu-an filling blends 90% cotton with 10% polyester. This blend suppresses flattening while providing a comfortable seating experience that is gentle on the legs. By using urethane in the core, we reduce the "floor contact" that is common with floor cushions.
Five processes are carefully carried out by skilled artisans.
1. Mixing the filling
Cotton and polyester fibers are mixed in an optimal ratio (90% cotton, 10% polyester).
2. Cotton processing
The mixed cotton and polyester filling is processed to remove excess impurities and shaped into a fabric-like form.
3. Folding
The filling is folded. If urethane is included, it is inserted at this stage.
4. Filling insertion
The filling is placed into the outer fabric.
5. Sewing the opening
The opening of the outer fabric is sewn shut to complete the cushion!
