The Triple S is a sneaker released by Balenciaga in September 2017. It is also known for coining the now-familiar buzzwords "dad shoes" and "dad sneakers." Even before its release, information leaks generated global buzz, and the initial models sold out immediately despite a retail price close to 100,000 yen. At the time, they were trading on resale sites for more than double their retail price.
Incidentally, the model name is an abbreviation for "Triple Sole." It is named after the combination of three soles: a running shoe, a basketball shoe, and a track shoe. The unique, thick layering, molded from three different sports soles and stacked together, gives it a presence that sets it apart from other sneakers.
The Triple S was designed by Artistic Director Demna Gvasalia. Demna is one of the top designers who has previously designed products for Louis Vuitton and Maison Margiela, and founded Vetements. Since being appointed as Balenciaga's new Artistic Director in 2015, succeeding Alexander Wang, he has consecutively created popular items such as the Speed Trainer, logo caps, and fur scarves. Among these, the Triple S can be said to be the most popular item he has handled at Balenciaga.
This is a certified authentic item purchased from an auction hosted by a major brand shop, for which I hold a second-hand dealer's license.
