The design focused on overwhelming operability that allows for speedy bottom contact even in unfavorable conditions like two-layered currents, and enables the angler to create the desired action to entice fish. The design criteria included a nose & tail shape that allows for good water shedding in both the "upward (jerk)" and "downward (fall)" movements, and a flat, long silhouette that attracts fish from a wide area through visual effects, even when fish are scarce. In other words, the concept of the Satou Jig is a trump card that can produce results even in tough situations where "currents are bad" and "fish are scarce."The fine-tuning of the shape was done on the boat, and Sato himself hand-carved the prototype to the ideal level of performance before it was manufactured.
