1929年、名古屋市生まれ。立命館大学文学部地理学科卒業後、岐阜県高校教員、花園大学文学部史学科教授などを経て、花園大学名誉教授(文学博士)、岐阜地理学会名誉会長。輪中研究の第一人者として知られる。2010年、岐阜県教育長章受賞。2011年、岐阜県知事賞受賞。2012年、日本地理学会賞受賞。2013年、地方文化功労賞・文部科学大臣賞受賞(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)
