1. The Depth and Luster Unique to Cloisonné Enamel
Cloisonné enamel is a technique where glassy glaze is fired onto metal, creating a distinctive gloss and depth of color that changes with the light. The tie pin in the photo features a gradient from deep indigo to black, with sparkling patterns resembling silver leaf that shine beautifully.

2. The Value of Handmade One-of-a-Kind Items
Since each piece of cloisonné enamel is finished by artisans working by hand, no two are exactly the same. As a unique tie pin with its own personality, it also makes an excellent gift.

3. Design Suitable for Both Formal and Casual Wear
While simple, the design exudes a sense of luxury and is easy to match with suit styles as well as jacket outfits. The subdued color tones enhance an adult’s refined elegance.

4. Fusion of Traditional Craftsmanship and Modern Sensibility
While preserving the traditional techniques of cloisonné enamel, the design is modern and fits well into contemporary business scenes. Its incorporation of traditional crafts into everyday accessories makes it popular among those with a keen sense of style.

This piece features a beautiful gradient of deep blue, reminiscent of a galaxy.
Each pattern is handcrafted, making every piece unique—no two are exactly alike. Please hold your own personal galaxy in your hand.

The work is created through repeated processes of glaze application (coloring), firing, and polishing, all done manually. Even with the same design, it is impossible to produce identical colors and shapes. Enjoy a truly one-of-a-kind piece.

【My Thoughts】
One of my hobbies is traveling. I belonged to a travel club in university and traveled across Japan. During these trips, I was often surprised to see towns that had declined or had very few people, especially in rural areas, and I was captivated by the beauty of traditional crafts encountered there. I believe that if these traditional crafts become more widespread, they can help restore and showcase Japan’s unique culture. That is why I am currently involved in activities to promote traditional crafts.

I also chose cloisonné enamel because of the difficulty and meaning of its production process. It originated in China before the B.C. era and was introduced to Japan during the Kofun period. The "seven treasures" in the name cloisonné refer to beautiful, treasure-like ceramics from Buddhist stories, symbolizing the seven precious items. The colors are transparent, and I feel proud to wear pieces that reflect this history. I want many people to know about and appreciate these historically significant works!

【Introduction to the Craft】
Cloisonné enamel is a craft that combines metal and glass, with a deep tradition.
It is said that almost anything can be made as a work of cloisonné, with some pieces taking years to complete, while others can be finished in just a few hours. The extensive use of glass results in transparent, vivid colors.

Additionally, cloisonné enamel is resistant to rust and aging, and is said to last nearly 100 years.
The accessories sold by Ota Cloisonné are especially characterized by cool tones. This is because, among various colors, these hues produce the most vibrant and transparent colors that highlight the charm of cloisonné. Each piece is carefully handcrafted by artisans, with silver being applied and detailed finishing touches added by hand. Every item embodies the passion of the craftsman, Mr. Nonaka.
