Significantly improved image quality with the latest optical design
Optical characteristics include a fluorite lens and a Super UD lens, consisting of 16 groups 21 elements, which suppress chromatic aberration and achieve high image quality across the entire zoom range of 100-400mm. Additionally, it employs Canon's newly developed coating technology "ASC Air Sphere Coating" that greatly reduces flare and ghosting by providing a significant anti-reflective effect on light incident at near-vertical angles.

Evolved image stabilization effect
IS image stabilization mechanism is improved to 1.5 stops (2 to 4 stops) compared to previous models. It also features a new "IS Mode 3" optimized for unpredictable moving subjects, in addition to the existing "IS Mode 2" suitable for panning sports shots.

Excellent operability due to changes in zoom mechanism
By changing the zoom mechanism from a straight drive to a rotary drive, it allows for stable shooting while maintaining good holding balance.
