These piano pieces were composed in 1889, when the composer was 48 years old, and are mature works created before his trip to the United States, similar to his Symphony No. 8 and the opera "Jacobin." In April 1889, a visit to his hometown Neralhozeves after a long time inspired this intimate music reflecting nostalgic memories, consisting of 13 jewel-like small pieces with titles.
