Following the highly acclaimed debut album ‘Smetana: Cycle of Symphonic Poems “My Homeland” for Piano Four Hands’, Saori Inajima and Masahiro Oishi have chosen, like before, the great Czech composer Dvořák.It goes without saying that the three late symphonies are frequently performed works for orchestra, but the piano four-hand arrangements by the composer himself are very rare, and on this CD, all but Symphony No. 9 are recorded for the first time in the world.A must-listen album for fans.
Media reviews and more
Following the debut album ‘Smetana: Cycle of Symphonic Poems “My Homeland”’, Inajima & Oishi have chosen the same Czech giant, Dvořák. These are the last three symphonies, which deeply internalize a perspective on the homeland and have acquired true originality, along with two related overtures. The piano four-hand versions are extremely rare, and the harmony’s color and voice part transparency will surely bring fresh surprises. All but Symphony No. 9 are recorded for the first time in the world. (C)RS
