DSIS adjusts the movement of the foot using this insole and supports the "three arches" of the sole. This allows toes to be used properly, promotes rhythmic walking, and reduces foot fatigue. It is an insole feedback from the medical field.
◆ Focus on Dynamic Balance During Walking
Humans have evolved to walk upright on two legs. About a quarter of the body's bones are in the feet. During walking, the heel lands first, then the center of gravity shifts to the toes using the arch of the foot, and pushes off to move forward. This is dynamic balance in gait.
The DSIS insole absorbs shocks and reliably supports the transfer of the center of gravity to the heel, arch, and toes.
Moreover, the shock-absorbing material Sorbo Sain is designed to have shock absorption similar to skin and muscles, so it does not burden the body.
When using the DSIS insole, impact on the heel is reduced, and the center of gravity can be effectively shifted to the toes using the arch. Proper walking lines promote healthy feet.
Without using the insole, impact on the heel is greater, the center of gravity shifts away from the correct walking line, resulting in weaker toe push-off. ◆ Insoles Used in Medical Settings
Insoles are called foot orthoses or insoles in medical practice. Their purpose is to distribute pressure on painful areas and reduce the burden on the foot.
They also prevent and correct deformities of the sole, guiding the foot and posture into proper alignment. The goal is to improve symptoms by enabling the foot to function correctly.
Sorbo DSIS pads, used in medical settings, are also incorporated into Sorbo insoles. Certified foot care control trainers conduct consultations on customers' foot conditions and create custom insoles to help improve foot problems.
◆ Plantar Fasciitis and Insoles
The plantar fascia is a thick ligament running from the inside of the heel to the front of the foot, playing a vital role in maintaining the arch. When inflammation occurs in the plantar fascia, pain arises in the sole, making walking difficult. Causes of plantar fasciitis vary, including overexertion from jogging or running, or sometimes occurring without specific cause in middle-aged and older individuals. Anti-inflammatory and pain relief treatments, along with insoles to reduce load on the plantar fascia, are prescribed.
◆ Accessory Navicular and Insoles
An accessory navicular is an extra bone. It protrudes on the outer side of the navicular bone (just below and slightly in front of the inner ankle, palpable by touch). It can cause pain and is often seen in flat-footed individuals or children. Treatment includes anti-inflammatory and pain relief therapy, and insoles to reduce tension in the posterior tibial tendon.
◆ Sesamoid Bone Disorders and Insoles
Sesamoids are small bones embedded within tendons, serving as pivot points for joint movement. Two sesamoid bones are located at the base of the big toe. They bear significant load during weight-bearing and can become inflamed, leading to sesamoiditis. To reduce load and inflammation, prescribed insoles are used.
◆ Development of DSIS Sorbo Mediful Based on Medical Feedback
We developed this product focusing on the three arches of the foot around the arch of the instep, in collaboration with Dr. Toshihiko Uchida, a medical doctor (orthopedic surgeon), member of the Japan Shoe Medical Society, and a councilor of the Japan Foot Surgery Society. Together with the non-profit organization Orthotics Society, founded by Dr. Uchida, we have promoted product development and awareness activities. DSIS Sorbo Mediful is born from these efforts. The product name "Mediful" reflects its origin in the medical field.
The "DSIS" system, devised by our NPO Orthotics Society, aims to adjust foot movement with this insole to reduce foot troubles. It is an insole feedback system directly influenced by the medical field, hence the name "DSIS Sorbo Mediful."

1. Remove the existing insole from your shoes.2. Hold the new insole against the heel and compare sizes.3. If there is a size difference, mark the outline along the outer edge with an oil-based pen.4. Carefully cut along the marked line with scissors, taking care not to cut yourself.5. Insert the cut-insole into your shoe, and check that the toe area fits properly, with no tilting or floating. Use your hand to confirm.
Replace the existing insole with the new one. The insole is designed with appropriate thickness to absorb shocks. If the interior of the shoe is too tight, it may not fit.
