Magnolia wood (Hoonoki) is hard, making it suitable for crafts such as the teeth of geta (Hoba geta). It is also water-resistant and pleasant to the touch, so it is used for the handles of Japanese knives and cutting boards. Because it has little resin and is easy to process, it is also used for the scabbards of Japanese swords.

Inro are famous from the historical drama "Mito Komon."
It is a three-tiered inro with a hollow interior, allowing you to store small items such as medicine.

The gourd-shaped *oshime* (cord fastener) has a shape that widens towards the top, and has been considered a very auspicious object since ancient times. It has been widely used as a charm for warding off evil and bringing good fortune, and as a protective amulet.

This item is crafted by artisans from Shuzuki Studio, famous for its "Kamakura Carving and Karakuri Tansu of the Shizu River" in Shizuoka folk crafts. Made in JAPAN.
