Magnolia wood (Hoonoki) is hard and used for intricate crafts such as the teeth of geta (Hoba geta). It is also resistant to water and has a pleasant texture, so it has been used for the handles of Japanese knives and cutting boards. Because it has little resin and is easy to process, it is also used for the scabbards of Japanese swords.

Inro are famous from the story of Mito Komon.
It is a three-tiered inro with a hollow interior, allowing you to store small items such as medicine.
