1960年大阪に生まれる。1989年京都大学教育学研究科後期博士課程満期退学。1992年北九州市立大学文学部に専任講師として赴任、2005年より同教授。
専門(現在)臨床教育学(子どもの人格発達と教育指導)、家族援助論。日本生活指導学会理事、全国生活指導研究協議会指名全国委員、日本学童保育学会理事、NPO法人学童保育協会理事長、学童保育指導員専門性研究会九州支部長。
著書に『いじめと児童虐待の臨床教育学』(ミネルヴァ書房/2002年)『気になる子ども 気になる保護者 ― 理解と援助のために』(かもがわ出版/2005年)『気になる保護者とつながる援助』(かもがわ出版/2008年)、編著として『発達障害といじめ・暴力』(クリエイツかもがわ/2008年)など。
