Historically, Japanese people have utilized highly advanced communication techniques such as "Aun no Kokyu" (breath in unison) and "Ishin Denshin" (telepathic communication). However, these methods are not effective in international society. Because without expressing one's thoughts "logically" in words, effective communication cannot be achieved. Nevertheless, the author, Director of the Tsukuba Language Technology Education Institute, argues that this method—"expressing oneself clearly and logically, with a coherent structure so that the other person can understand"—is not only not difficult but also extremely effective in facilitating parent-child communication.
This logical communication skill is called "language technique" or "communication skills" in Europe and America, and anyone can acquire it through training. This book demonstrates the training methods for developing these skills.
First, it points out checkpoints for the communication environment at home, such as whether you are speaking without making eye contact, omitting subjects, or using vague expressions. Then, as a concrete method for acquiring communication skills, it introduces the "Question and Answer Game" developed by the author and implemented with children. This game involves repeatedly giving appropriate responses to questions, starting with relatively easy questions like "like" or "dislike," and then progressing to applications, negotiations, and discussions. The book explains these training methods with sample Q&A examples, making it a useful reference to try at home.

**True logical thinking is cultivated from childhood**
I started language technique education for elementary school students twelve years ago. Now, I instruct about 100 children up to high school age. Language technique education is the "Japanese language" education commonly practiced in Europe and America. In simple terms, it involves teaching all the skills necessary for "listening, speaking, reading, writing, and thinking," that is, effectively manipulating language. The core of this language technique is "logical thinking." When communicating with others, constructing your own ideas, expressing thoughts clearly, analyzing information, or helping others understand your emotions—without the aid of "logical thinking," understanding cannot be achieved. Logical thinking influences all aspects of how we think and how we manipulate words.
Children inherently possess the ability to think logically. It is the role of adults around them to draw out and nurture this logical ability. Currently, many books with titles like "Logic," "Logical," or "Liberal Arts Logic" are flying off the shelves, but logical thinking is not a know-how that can be acquired overnight. It is something that adults must appropriately engage with over a long period, gradually drawing out and nurturing it within children. Only then can genuine logical thinking be cultivated in children.
This book details methods for adults at home or school to help children develop their logical thinking skills. First, by creating a suitable everyday language environment, then by having fun and training their logical thinking through effective communication games developed in my classroom. For children who become accustomed to logical expression, a second volume is currently being prepared to explore the content of logical thinking further. For children, there is also a book titled "Illustrated Logical Communication: 50 Thinking and Speaking Techniques to Master with Children" published by Godo Publishing, which you may also want to check out.
