今作は昨年12月に大好評を博した、舞台「デルフィニア戦記~動乱の序章~」の劇伴音楽に加え新たにレコーディングされた楽曲を収録。
音楽を担当したのは、作曲家・中村康隆を中心に電?楽器と管弦楽器にソプラノボーカルを取り入れて活動する夜長オーケストラ。編成はツインドラムとパーカッション、マニピュレーター、5弦ベース、ピアノ、7弦ギターによるリズム隊と、サックスを含む2管オーケストラ、そしてソプラノ歌?を含めた総勢28?で、近年はアニメやゲーム作品、舞台音楽などにも楽曲を提供する"劇伴を担当するアーティスト"としても、その活動の幅を広げている。
作曲を担当した中村は、「沢山の魅力あふれるキャラクターたちですが、舞台ではそれがさらに凝縮されて次々と進んでいく印象がありまして、いかに音楽面で色分けをはっきりと出していくかが一番苦心しました。」とのコメントを寄せているとおり、「デルフィニア戦記」の魅力的なキャラクターたちのテーマはもちろん、スケール感あふれる戦闘やスリリングな一騎打ちシーン、コミカルでファンタジックな場面などさまざまなシーンを彩るトラックが収録され、映画のサウンドトラックに匹敵するコレクションとして、「デルフィニア戦記」の音楽世界を心底堪能できる。
