SF Super finesse concept: a design philosophy for spinning reels that enables millimeter-precision control far beyond traditional finesse. For this new challenge, Daiwa chose the flagship small spinning reel "EXIST". Why?

Daiwa does not seek peace in its flagship. It does not conform. It always wishes to be at the forefront of the fishing scene.

Honestly, the EXIST SF is not a model student. While inheriting the philosophy of EXIST, it has no regard for common sense. It is not versatile but focused on a single point. The goal is super finesse that surpasses finesse.

Maintaining basic features like air drive design, full-metal Mg monocoque body, and mag shield, the reel is finely tuned to the limit. It targets bass, trout, and light saltwater using lines of 4 lb fluorocarbon or nylon, or PE line of 0.6 gauge or less, and is thoroughly made more compact and lightweight. To achieve this, durability and waterproofing are sacrificed to some extent, but the benefits gained are in an uncharted territory.

Beyond the previous limits of finesse, the reel's maneuverability allows the lure to follow the intended trajectory as drawn in the mind, providing a dense, one-on-one time with the fish. The finely optimized weight enables smooth casting performance without excessive force, contributing to distance and accuracy. The compact body, easily held in the palm, allows delicate feathering, promising precise approach. The short spool, enhanced by ATD TYPE-L for smooth line release, reaches a higher level.

In the fierce field, anglers longed for a tackle that could surpass the limits of finesse and still compete. Just as racing machines sacrifice ride comfort for speed and handling, this is a specialized tackle thoroughly refined for that one point, even at the expense of general balance. Unmatched maneuverability allows more precise, direct control of the lure, responding to the angler's will.

Downsizing the body

Compared to general-purpose models, the body has been significantly downsized, achieving major compactness and weight reduction. In developing SF, the strength characteristics of the monocoque body were fully utilized by focusing solely on compactness. The body fits in the palm and also improves feathering performance.

BEYOND THE LIMIT 2. SPOOL SHORTENING

Spool shortening

The line capacity for the intended line class is secured, and the spool width is boldly shortened. This achieves weight and size reduction, and improves drag release performance. The smaller line release angle reduces resistance when passing through the line roller, making the line release of ATD TYPE-L even smoother.

BEYOND THE LIMIT 3. MAIN SHAFT CHANGING

Linear shaft conversion

The main shaft is made smaller in diameter, and the ball bearing at the back of the pinion adopted in air drive shafts is omitted, contributing to weight reduction. Meanwhile, the collar supporting the main shaft uses a high-precision collar similar to the air drive shaft, ensuring smooth and quiet winding.

BEYOND THE LIMIT 4. MAGSEALED REDUCING

Mag shield reduction

Mag shield is placed only on the pinion part. This ensures waterproof and dustproof performance for the target species while pursuing weight reduction.
