SF Super finesse concept: a design philosophy for spinning reels that enables millimeter-precision control far beyond traditional finesse. For this new challenge, Daiwa chose the flagship small spinning reel "EXIST." Why?

Daiwa does not seek peace in its flagship. It does not conform. It always wishes to be at the forefront of the fishing scene.

Honestly, the EXIST SF is not an honor student. While inheriting the philosophy of EXIST, it has no common sense. It is not versatile but focused on a single point. The goal is super finesse that surpasses finesse.

The basic features of the EXIST, such as air drive design, full-metal Mg monocoque body, and Magshield, are maintained while being finely tuned to the limit. The target is bass, trout, and light saltwater using lines of 4 lb fluorocarbon, nylon, or PE size 0.6 or less, with thorough compactness and lightweight design. To achieve this, durability and waterproofing are sacrificed at a certain level, but the benefits gained are in an uncharted territory.

Beyond the previous limits of finesse, the maneuverability that allows the lure to follow the imagined trajectory will bring a dense, one-on-one time with fish. The carefully minimized weight enables smooth casting performance without excessive force, contributing to distance and accuracy. The compact body fits in the palm, allowing delicate feathering and promising precise approach. The short spool, enhanced by ATD TYPE-L for smooth line release, reaches an even higher level.

Downsizing the body

Compared to general-purpose machines, the body is significantly downsized, achieving major compactness and weight reduction. In developing SF, the strength characteristics of the monocoque body were fully exploited by focusing solely on compactness. The body, fitting in the palm, also improves feathering performance.

Spool shortening

The spool width is boldly shortened to ensure only the necessary line capacity for the intended line class. This achieves weight and size reduction, while also improving drag release performance. The reduced line release angle decreases resistance when passing through the line roller, making the line release of ATD TYPE-L even smoother.

BEYOND THE LIMIT 3. MAIN SHAFT CHANGING

Linear shaft conversion

The main shaft is made smaller in diameter. Additionally, the ball bearing at the back of the pinion used in the air drive shaft is omitted, contributing to weight reduction. Meanwhile, the collar supporting the main shaft uses a high-precision collar comparable to the air drive shaft, ensuring smooth and quiet winding.

Magshield reduction

Magshield is only placed at the pinion part. This ensures waterproof and dustproof performance for the intended fishing species while pursuing weight reduction.
