DAIWA TECHNOLOGY■AIRDRIVE DESIGN (Air Drive Design) Air Drive Design is a design philosophy for next-generation spinning reels that pursues the operator’s desired manipulation of the lure. Air Drive Design consists of up to four technologies. The 23LEXA is equipped with AIRDRIVE ROTOR, AIRDRIVE BAIL, and AIRDRIVE SPOOL.■AIRDRIVE ROTOR (ZAION V material) "The reason for pursuing low inertia" DAIWA continues to work on improving the rotor’s response in spinning reels. Based on its own theory, DAIWA derived a new shape that looks as if it was cut directly from a sphere. By thoroughly removing unnecessary material from this shape, it maintains rigidity while achieving significant weight reduction. This results in a dramatic improvement in operability and sensitivity due to lighter winding. The 23LEXA features an AIRDRIVE ROTOR made of ZAION V. The "strong and light" rotor enables powerful winding and light unwinding.■AIRDRIVE BAIL "Further trouble-free operation"■AIRDRIVE SPOOL "A new design reflecting the future" Based on meticulous strength calculations, the spool features a thin-wall design that thoroughly reduces unnecessary material for lightweighting. The thin design of the line winding part and spool skirt, as well as internal spool perforation, leaves no room for compromise. The lighter spool improves ease of winding and casting operation. Additionally, a newly developed drag sound mechanism with low operational resistance enhances response during drag operation.■MAGSEALED By creating a wall of oil with magnetic properties, it blocks intrusion of seawater, dust, and other contaminants, maintaining smooth initial rotation performance over a long period. This is Daiwa’s original waterproof structure. In the 23LEXA, this technology is incorporated into the pinion part, further improving waterproofness and durability, achieving high waterproof performance.■ATD TYPE-L "Different followability" The ATD’s characteristic of smoothly continuing to respond to fish pulls remains, but the initial response in spinning reels has been further improved with ATD TYPE-L. It is tuned for smooth start-up, reducing line load further, and enabling quick landing without excessive stress on the fish. Considering use in tougher environments, high-durability ATD (carbon washer type) is adopted for larger sizes (5000 and 6000).■Tough Digi Gear A robust heart that withstands harsh environments is essential. The "Tough Digi Gear" is adopted for longer-lasting smooth rotation. It can be used confidently even with large fish.■LC-ABS (Long Cast-ABS) "Cast even farther" The concept of reducing contact resistance from ABS II remains, but by moving the contact point forward, it enables smoother line release. The forward protrusion of the ring prevents line from riding on the ring, resulting in approximately 5% increased casting distance and fewer troubles compared to conventional ABS II. It is a next-generation ABS spool that realizes LC (Long Cast).■Perfect Line Stopper A new shape line stopper that supports fine lines like PE and thick lines like leaders. Its horizontally elongated shape reduces space in the vertical direction and contributes to spool lightweighting. It suppresses body distortion and allows for confident use in tough conditions.■Handle knob To suit various fishing styles, appropriate settings are applied. For a wide range of items in medium and large sizes, a high-rigidity aluminum body is used, and a power light EVA knob is standard to support high-load fishing.
