The monocoque body is a new structure unique to DAIWA that eliminates the body cover. This simple structure revolutionizes spinning reels and demonstrates many advantages even in LB reels. High rigidity, power, durability, and silky rotation performance reflect a new form of LB.

Silky rotation

Adopting a high-rigidity monocoque body improves gear support accuracy and achieves smoother rotation than conventional models. The body without deformation and the gears fitting tightly produce a high-quality rotation feel.

Increased winding power

The simple monocoque structure allows for a larger drive gear. Winding power is increased, making it easier to handle large fish and retrieve rigs from main streams or deep waters.

Improved rotational durability

The larger gear diameter also contributes to better rotational durability. It successfully maintains initial rotational performance over a long period, achieving the highest level of real-world durability in the TOURNAMENT ISO LBD series.

Enhanced waterproofing

The improved airtightness of the monocoque body and the high water resistance of the Magshield work together to block water ingress into the body interior. This achieves the highest level of waterproofing in the TOURNAMENT ISO LBD series.

TECHNOLOGY

New structure that eliminates the body cover and screws the plate directly

Traditional spinning reels typically fix the body cover to the body with screws to support the drive gear ends. This structure was revised to improve rigidity and rotation accuracy, resulting in the monocoque body. By removing the conventional body cover and directly screwing in a precisely finished engine plate, body rigidity is greatly increased, contributing to improved gear support accuracy and airtightness.

Elimination of screw holes enlarges the drive gear housing area

The monocoque body, which does not require screw holes to secure the body cover, significantly increases the internal space compared to conventional structures. While maintaining the same body surface area, it allows for larger drive gears. Larger drive gears offer benefits such as increased power, improved rotational durability, and the potential for higher gear ratios.

The large-diameter drive gear that can be mounted on the monocoque body enables powerful winding and improved rotational durability. Additionally, increasing the gear thickness reduces deformation under high loads, giving the NEW TOURNAMENT ISO LBD a robust heart that can handle big fish. The competition LBD features a 9% increase compared to previous models, and the 2500/3000 sizes, which require more toughness, are equipped with a gear 13% thicker than previous models. Coupled with the high-rigidity monocoque body, power and reliability are greatly enhanced.

Blocking water ingress into the body with a simple structure and Magshield

The monocoque body, which does not require screw holes, is sealed with an engine plate and gaskets. The structure isolates the brake and gear spaces, reducing water entry into the interior, and works synergistically with Magshield to achieve high waterproof performance.

OTHER TECHNOLOGY

Magshield / Magshield ball bearings

Magshield uses a special magnetic fluid called Mag Oil to create a protective oil wall on the main shaft. This technology is applied by sealing Mag Oil inside ball bearings, called "Magshield Ball Bearings," which are installed on the drive gear's bearing parts, further enhancing waterproof and dustproof functions.

Vita Turbo Brake System

Using titanium disks, it achieves twice the brake efficiency of conventional models, providing strong braking power. Brake response to reach the necessary braking force is also shortened to one-quarter of conventional models.

ATD Type L / ATD Tuff

The rapidly responding "ATD" system has evolved further. Changing the ratchet shape of the drag release reduces resistance during drag operation, improving response. The release sound volume is also increased, allowing detection of slight drag movements by sound. For the competition LBD 2500XH-LBD, a felt washer is used for fine-line handling with "ATD Type-L," and for 3000LBD / 3000XH-LBD, a high-durability carbon washer is used for "ATD Tuff."
