DAIWA CONNECTED aims to provide new value to the fishing scene by realizing "easy setup," "evolved functions," and "new experiences." DAIWA CONNECTED consists of "electric mobile setting" and "DAIWA Connecting System," two technologies that connect a reel to a smartphone. The "DAIWA Connecting System," one of DAIWA CONNECTED, is installed on baitcasting reels and wakasagi reels. Reels with the suffix -C, which support wireless connection, can link with compatible products to update functions and check data obtained from the reel. Furthermore, in 2025, new features linked with wearable devices, sub-displays, and hearables were released. Expandable INTELLIGENT MAGFORCE

A brake system that detects spool rotation and digitally controls brake force for each mode. It is possible to instantly switch to completely different brake characteristics with just the control switch operation located on the outside of the side plate. Not only modes optimized for long-distance casting but also versatile performance that adapts to headwinds, air resistance, and large lures, all without changing the spool, allowing a single reel to deliver various casting performances. This is the appeal and advantage of the IM concept. Moreover, by updating the reel via the DAIWA app, new brake modes can be added and configured. Innovative new IM unit

Developed a new IM unit exclusive for IM Z TW100-C. Improved basic performance including waterproofing, processing speed, and battery life. In terms of user interface, significantly enhanced operability by improving the ease of pressing and click feeling of the control switch, which was a common user request for IM Z.

High operability

The overall form has been made more compact and low-profile, with the reel weight reduced to 205g. The full aluminum housing achieves a balance of the fundamental performance required for baitcasting reels, "firmness" and "smooth rotation."

In bait and dual-axis reel structures, the gear that drives the mechanism is the heart, while the frame and housing are the skeleton. The strong frame, made of die-cast aluminum alloy with high-precision machining, supports the gear that ensures smooth rotation, high-precision spool, and durable clutch system that operates trouble-free, demonstrating its true strength. This series uses aluminum alloy die-cast for all main structural parts: the frame, gear side side plate, handle side, and dial side set plate, finished with high-precision machining to ensure unwavering rigidity. It supports a high-rigidity, high-precision internal structure that provides a refined winding feel and high power, forming a body system that firmly supports the internal structure.

High-strength, high-precision solid pinion gear

In the IM Z TW100-C, compared to the conventional structure pinion gear (left image), a solid pinion gear (right image) with approximately 23 times the gear strength is adopted. This is a DAIWA-unique mechanism made possible by the zero-shaft structure, which does not have a spool shaft, responding to higher gear ratios and providing smooth rotation performance.

The quick spool start characteristic unique to the φ34mm spool is a feature of the 100 series. As a result, combined with the Intelligent Magforce, it enhances a wide dynamic brake range and high-precision brake control technology. The spool unit alone weighs 8.7g. Compared to the spool used in the MAG-Z BOOST-equipped model, the 22 ZILLION TW HD1000, it achieves about 34% weight reduction. This not only improves responsiveness but also significantly expands the brake characteristic adjustment range, representing a major evolution point.

New TWS with approximately 31% larger opening

Aiming to expand the resistance to line release during casting, i.e., the unresisted range, the unique TWS technology has been refined. The new tapered TWS designed for φ34mm/24mm width features approximately 31% larger opening compared to the previous size. This provides even better line release performance and a casting feel that makes you want to throw again and again.

Battery life improved

In the IM Z TW100-C, not only has the digital control brake's accuracy been improved, but battery life has also been extended through energy-saving measures. With the new IM unit, about 1,000 casts can be made on a full charge. These figures are based on our testing standards aligned with existing market products and may vary depending on usage; they are not guaranteed. When starting from a depleted battery, a full charge takes about 90 minutes. When the battery runs out, the brake force is fixed at MAX. Even if the battery is exhausted, casting and winding are still possible. No log data can be obtained when the battery is empty.

Battery equipped

There is a connection terminal behind the casting side plate. By opening and closing the battery cap on the connection terminal and firmly inserting the included charging cable straight into the terminal, charging is possible. The connection terminal is waterproof. Please ensure the device is dry before charging. Do not charge if the device is wet. After charging, close the battery cap before use.
