The flagship bait finesse reel SS AIR TW, reborn after 10 years. It inherits the sharp appearance of the black and red design, with a compact body, and features a completely new brake system SS MAGFORCE, along with popular DAIWA technologies. This revolution in DAIWA bait finesse reels clearly reflects 10 years of evolution. The evolution is mainly in two points: unprecedented castability thanks to the newly developed SS MAGFORCE brake system, and enhanced basic performance through standard features like TWS and HYPERDRIVE DESIGN. The new brake system not only improves castability but also contributes to a more compact body design. The body design and brake settings involved the participation of Mr. Yukihiro Sawamura, president of K.T.F., the father of bait finesse, achieving a high level of pitching and casting performance. Notably, the extremely stable and stress-free casting from the compact form is a result of the synergy between DAIWA’s long-standing magnet brake expertise and Mr. Sawamura’s insights, reaching a new frontier.

HYPERDRIVE DIGIGEAR

A newly designed gear system for baitcasting reels that pursues sustained strong and smooth rotation. It maintains the gear tooth module size, directly linked to durability, and achieves higher mesh rate, ensuring long-lasting initial smoothness, utilizing DAIWA’s proprietary technology.


HYPER DOUBLE SUPPORT

A drive support system that realizes sustained smoothness and strong, lightweight winding. By supporting both ends of the pinion gear with two high-precision ball bearings, it reduces input from the handle, allowing powerful and easy winding even under load.


HYPER ARMED HOUSING

A housing system that internally supports the structure with high rigidity and high precision, producing a delicate winding feel and power. Using metal materials for the frame is essential, and in combination with side plates and set plates, it enables the basic performance to be maintained over a longer period.


HYPER TOUGH CLUTCH

A clutch system with excellent on-off performance that continues to slide thousands or tens of thousands of times, and is highly resistant to trouble even in seawater with high salinity. It has achieved a 99% reduction in stuck repairs in harsh salt environments, thanks to cutting-edge insulation structure.

TECHNOLOGY







TWS

The T-shape level wind structure rotates half a turn forward and backward in response to clutch ON/OFF. During casting, the level wind rotates forward, allowing line to pass smoothly through the wide part of the T-shape level wind. During retrieve, it tilts backward, guiding the line into the groove at the bottom of the level wind, ensuring tight and parallel winding. DAIWA’s unique level wind system balances line release performance and trouble-free operation. It significantly reduces resistance at the spool near the line guide, where spool rotation speed is highest, promising a backlash-free, comfortable fishing experience. It enables longer casts, better control, faster falls, and fewer backlashes. TWS enhances all basic performance aspects of baitcasting reels.


SS MAGFORCE

A new brake system that delivers comfortable low-trajectory casting performance with a compact swing. It is a finesse-specific design that has been completely redesigned from the ground up, achieving overwhelming lightweight and low inertia. The internal dead space of the side plate and spool unit is minimized for maximum compactness. It allows for effortless, precise casting with less force than before.


G1 Dur aluminum Φ28mm AIR spool

Equipped with a finesse-specific AIR spool that maximizes finesse performance. Developed exclusively for SS MAGFORCE, it achieves lower inertia than previous AIR spools. It features ultra-light micro ball bearings to handle ultra-light lures, enabling handling of smaller rigs and providing longer approaches and softer water entry. A powerful tool to avoid missing the next catch even in tough conditions.









UTD

Eliminates initial drag resistance during the start of a fight with fish, providing smoothness without unevenness, and increases drag force as tightened.


Drag release click

A structure that produces a clicking sound during line retrieval, allowing the angler to judge drag operation by sound during a fight with fish. An essential mechanism for advantageous game play with thin lines.


Zero adjuster

Initially, adjust the zero adjuster and perform spool play zero setting, enabling control of all lures solely with the mag dial thanks to the evolution of the magnetic brake. The zero adjuster is adjusted to a zero setting before starting fishing, ensuring no misoperation occurs during fishing, allowing comfortable fishing. The spool play zero setting leaves a fine gap of about 0.2mm, just enough to prevent spool wobble, and is set to the limit without pressing the spool.


Zero shaft

The spool is supported only by ball bearings. The absence of a shaft eliminates unnecessary resistance, achieving ideal spool rotation. This is a key component for high-output, high-performance casting.
