木彫りの大日如来像です。
大日如来は弘法大師の真言密教、高野山金剛峰寺で信仰の対象でしたが、本地垂迹によると天照大神と同一の仏様と言われています。
大日如来は太陽神とも言われ、宇宙をつかさどる仏とも言われています。
富士山信仰の浅間大社とも結びつき、全国の浅間神社で祭られている身近な仏様です。
金剛界の大日如来、胎蔵界の大日如来、大日如来は二面性があるため両面に彫刻が施されています。
素材は緻密で硬いツゲを使用した彫刻です。
天然素材ですので個体によって若干の色むらや微妙な大きさの違いがありますのでご了解ください。
