USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) certified organic cane is cultivated and processed in accordance with U.S. federal guidelines regarding soil quality, pest and weed control methods, and fertilizer use.
Producers follow these guidelines, using as many natural materials as possible and employing physical and mechanical, biologically based farming methods.
Cane that is USDA Organic certified must be grown in soil that has not been treated with prohibited substances for at least three years prior to harvest.

Since acquiring Ricoh in 2004, D'Addario has implemented organic farming practices, but obtaining USDA Organic certification involves a lengthy process.

A. As the cane cultivated on D'Addario's farms receives USDA Organic certification, we plan to gradually change packaging to clearly indicate this certification.
In addition to packaging updates, we are transitioning from plastic reed holders to paper ones, significantly reducing plastic content.
While these changes require time and careful attention, over the next few years, we plan to shift all cane-based reed products to new packaging and paper reed holders.

**【Will the quality be the same as previous reeds, and can I start playing immediately after opening the box?】**
A. Yes, the quality of D'Addario reeds remains unchanged. We have been practicing organic cane cultivation and manufacturing processes for many years.

**【Why switch from plastic to paper reed holders?】**
A. D'Addario aims to reduce environmental impact and lead the industry in sustainability—this is also our belief. We believe this is important for musicians as well. Many customers have expressed a desire to eliminate plastic reed sleeves.

**【How protective are the paper reed holders?】**
A. Paper reed holders have been used as an industry standard for decades. It is crucial that reeds arrive in perfect condition.
We use recyclable packaging paper for the holders, ensuring protection against humidity and environmental changes during transportation and storage at music stores worldwide.

**【Can I store used reeds again in paper reed holders?】**
A. We do not recommend storing used reeds in plastic or paper reed holders to prevent warping. Instead, we recommend using D'Addario reed cases or reed guards for storage.
