D'Addario introduces the new NYXL series of electric guitar strings, made with new materials. This next-generation string boasts a 30% increase in strength compared to conventional products, with significant improvements in pitch stability and durability. The selection of high-carbon steel alloy, a review of the drawing process, and improvements to the corrosion-resistant tin-plated coating have been implemented. With a 6% increase in magnetic permeability, the output in the 2-5kHz range is enhanced, resulting in a punchier, crunchier sound.
There have only been two generations of electric guitar strings on the market until now. The original D'Addario pure nickel strings, created in the 1950s, were characterized by their mellow sound. Then, in the early 1960s, D'Addario released the second generation: nickel-plated steel strings with a brighter sound. For over 50 years since then, strings made based on the material composition developed at that time have been used by countless players as the global industry standard (approximately 80% of electric guitar strings on the market). Around 2012, D'Addario began developing new electric guitar strings, and the result is this third-generation electric guitar string, the NYXL series. Named after D'Addario's hometown of New York, these strings represent the culmination of D'Addario's history, pride, and achievements in their dedication to consistently bringing new and superior products to the world.
