Hasegawa 1/72 Imperial Japanese Navy Kyushu J7W1 Model 18 Interceptor Fighter Shinden Plastic Model D20
The Shinden made its first flight on August 3, 1945, at Muroda Airfield in Kyushu, towards the end of World War II and the Pacific War. This aircraft has a very unusual shape, with the main wings placed at the rear and small wings, normally called horizontal stabilizers, placed at the front. The engine is located at the rear of the aircraft, with the propeller mounted facing backward. This configuration, known as a canard wing, allows for increased accuracy by mounting machine guns at the center of the aircraft, as there is no propeller at the nose. It also results in a smoother aircraft profile, enabling higher speeds. The Shinden was designed to combat long-range bombers such as the B-29, but it saw no action as the war ended on August 15th.
