Born and raised in Toronto, Charlotte Day Wilson demonstrates outstanding talent as a singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. Her 2016 EP "CDW" and 2018 EP "Stone Woman" received high praise, and her debut album "Alpha," self-released in 2021, was acclaimed worldwide. Drake, John Mayer, and James Blake have featured her through sampling, and Patti Smith praised and covered her hit single "Work" from the "CDW" album. Additionally, she has collaborated with artists such as Kelela, Bad Bad Not Good, and SG Lewis, proving her exceptional talent. Charlotte Day Wilson's highly anticipated second album, "Cyan Blue," is now released from XL Recordings!!
The lead track "I Don't Love You" carries the message that "heartbreak and separation are as moving as falling in love," featuring Wilson's perfect production skills and goosebump-inducing vocals. It is a sharp and beautifully destructive love confession, with smooth groove piano and soft drums layered together. The music video, released alongside the song, was directed by video artist Dani Aphrodite.
"Cyan Blue" is a work that beautifully and smoothly weaves together various musical elements that Wilson has been influenced by for a long time, including powerful gospel piano, warm soulful basslines, atmospheric electronics, and heartfelt R&B melodies. It also actively incorporates collaborations, reflecting on sadness, longing, and the innocence of youth, thereby fostering new creativity.
Produced with Leon Thomas (SZA, Ariana Grande, Post Malone) and Jack Rochon (H.E.R., Daniel Caesar), "Cyan Blue" demonstrates Wilson's excellence in sound and further showcases her evolved songwriting ability that appeals across eras. Through 13 enchanting tracks, she uses music as a means to unravel human relationships, ultimately gaining a perspective that allows her to face herself and understand her life as a whole.
The domestic CD includes a bonus track "Life After."
