ANTHEM, a representative Japanese authentic heavy metal band. In 2019, they released a new album titled 'NUCLEUS', which features songs selected from previous albums with English lyrics, re-recorded with the current lineup, released simultaneously worldwide. Four years have passed since then, and ANTHEM has completed their long-awaited new album. Titled 'CRIMSON & JET BLACK', it features all new songs with English lyrics, also released worldwide at the same time.
In 2021, ANTHEM held two anniversary tours: the Revenge of the 35th Anniversary Tour, postponed by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the 'ANTHEM vs ANTHEM 2001' reunion 20th anniversary tour. In 2022, they entered a 'new chapter' and began working on an original album for worldwide release. Originally, the recording was scheduled to be completed in spring 2022 and released within the year, but leader Naoto Shibata decided that the new songs did not yet meet the desired quality, so the schedule was reset, and recording was carried out from summer to fall 2022. As before, Shibata produced the album, but Jens Bogren, who mixed and mastered 'NUCLEUS', is credited as co-producer this time.
'CRIMSON & JET BLACK' is the first original album in six years since 'ENGRAVED' in 2017, making it the 17th album overall. Since reuniting in 2001, it is the 10th album, and the third with the current strongest lineup. Throughout the 21st century, ANTHEM has always aimed for 'the latest work to be the greatest masterpiece,' and has consistently achieved this, and this album undoubtedly fulfills that goal. It features a powerful sound unique to ANTHEM, yet fresh. The quality of the tracks is of the highest level globally, making it a masterpiece. In the current heavy metal scene, ANTHEM proves once again that they are among the top worldwide. With this masterpiece, witness ANTHEM's 'new chapter' and their further leap forward!
