“Dong Chong Xia Cao” (Cordyceps) is a mushroom that uses insects as a nutrient source. It is believed to have earned its name because “in winter, it is a worm, and in summer, it becomes a mushroom.”
The natural “Dong Chong Xia Cao,” known as an ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine and medicinal cuisine, has been treasured in China for thousands of years. It is said that Emperor Qin Shi Huang and Yang Guifei also favored it as a secret to longevity and youthfulness.
However, in recent years, due to overharvesting and other factors, its rarity has increased significantly, making it difficult to obtain.
In Japan, there are over 400 varieties of “Dong Chong Xia Cao,” and Bio Cocoon Research Institute has been conducting research on its artificial cultivation.
As a result of many years of research, we have established proprietary know-how that utilizes only pure domestically produced raw materials, enabling stable production of “Silkworm Pupa Cordyceps” using silkworm pupae as a substrate.
Furthermore, a new factory was completed in 2019, and efforts are ongoing to further improve and maintain quality.
