When NAXOS embarked on the complete piano works of Liszt (1811-1886), many Liszt enthusiasts must have murmured, "What about those Paganini Etudes!" While the commonly heard "Grandes Études" are one thing, they must have worried if anyone could perfectly play the first edition, known for being too difficult. However, rest assured! We are finally delivering the "Études d'exécution transcendante" in question. Even including this pianist, there should be no more than five pianists who have completely recorded these. The first version of the famous "La Campanella" (which mixes in melodies from Paganini's Violin Concerto) and the "second version" of the famous No. 4 are also included, of course (for this piece, one could only rely on "programming" to hear a perfect performance). In any case, please listen to this great achievement. Amazing, Filipec! Truly a tempestuous 70 minutes. A new legend begins.

This is the 41st volume of the complete piano works of Liszt (1811-1886). It features not only the commonly performed "Grandes Études de Paganini" but also the first edition of "Études d'exécution transcendante d'après Paganini," known as one of Liszt's most difficult works, performed perfectly by Goran Filipec.
