This is a Spark Unit CDI Igniter for GSX400 Impulse GK79A.
Compatible models: Suzuki GSX400 Impulse GK79A
(Even for compatible models, there may be vehicles where installation is not possible, so please check the actual vehicle.) 8
)
CDI is an abbreviation for Capacitor Discharge Ignition.
It generates current by rotating a strong magnet to store current in a coil, and generates high voltage with the ignition coil.
Then, high voltage is supplied to the spark plug, generating a spark and igniting.
The advantage of CDI is that it does not require adjustment like points systems, making it almost maintenance-free.
In addition, it discharges the stored electricity in the capacitor all at once, so there is almost no time lag and it provides stable ignition at all times.
If the CDI fails, it will not be able to spark the gasoline, and the engine will not run at all.
Symptoms that may precede a failure include the engine not revving, sluggish acceleration, and loss of torque.
If a CDI failure is suspected, it will need to be replaced with a new assembly.
Many people may prepare expensive genuine parts for replacement, but it is possible to reduce costs with high quality and reasonable prices.
To avoid being stranded by a sudden failure, having a spare CDI will give you peace of mind and confidence when going on a touring trip.
