CDIはキャパシター ディスチャージ イグニッションを略した用語で容量放電式点火の事です。
強力な磁石を回してコイルに電流を蓄め、高電圧をイグニッションコイルで発生させています。
そしてスパークプラグに高電圧を流し、火花を発生させ点火します。
CDIのメリットはポイント式のように調整を必要としませんので、ほぼメンテナンスフリーな事です。
その他にもコンデンサーに蓄電した電力を一斉に放出しますので、タイムラグもほとんど無く常に安定した点火をしてくれます。
CDIが故障するとガソリンにスパークする事ができなくなりますので、エンジンが全く動かなくなります。
故障の前兆の症状としては、エンジンが吹けない、加速が鈍くなる、トルクが出なくなった等があります。
CDIの故障が疑われる場合は、アッセンブリーで新品への交換になります。
高額な純正部品を用意して交換される方が多いと思いますが、高品質のリーズナブルな社外品でコストを抑える事が可能です。
