Yonezawa Seiyu's Cold-Pressed First Pressing Rapeseed Salad Oil uses 100% Australian-sourced rapeseed.
It has a unique nutty aroma and is a delicious oil with the refreshing flavor and rich body of rapeseed.
Recommended for frying as well.
It is smooth, drains well, and is characterized by not easily burning even when frying at 180°C.
Rapeseed oil is rich in essential fatty acids such as oleic acid, linolenic acid, and linoleic acid. These support the absorption of vitamins.
It is extracted using a natural pressing method and refined by hot water washing (proprietary patent). No petrochemicals are used in the manufacturing process.
About Yonezawa Seiyu:
Yonezawa Seiyu Co., Ltd. was founded in 1892 (Meiji 25) and has been dedicated to rapeseed oil for 127 years. With the belief "We do not use anything whose safety cannot be confirmed," they have consistently pursued food safety.
All of Yonezawa Seiyu's rapeseed oil uses non-genetically modified rapeseed (NON-GMO) and is extracted solely by pressing, without relying on chemical synthetic agents. It is refined by hot water washing (our company's patent) and contains no additives.
All employees are committed to delivering safe, secure, and delicious rapeseed oil to your table.
Yonezawa Seiyu's Three Commitments:
1. We use non-genetically modified rapeseed.Currently, approximately 2.4 million tons of rapeseed are imported annually into Japan. The main importing countries are Canada and Australia, of which about 90% are genetically modified (GM) rapeseed. (93% of Canadian rapeseed and 22% of Australian rapeseed are GM rapeseed.) (*) Until 1997, we used rapeseed from Canada, but due to the start of genetic modification, we switched to rapeseed from Australia. However, as genetic modification also began in Australia, we now contract with farmers who grow non-genetically modified (NON-GMO) crops and purchase only rapeseed that has been segregated and managed (IP handling) at each stage from cultivation to distribution for oil extraction.
2. We strive to expand production areas with the aim of increasing domestic self-sufficiency.Domestic rapeseed production has recovered to over 3,000 tons annually. It is a useful crop that requires little cultivation, and after planting rapeseed, other crops grow better or yield more in the fields. However, production will not increase without a use for it. We purchase approximately 70% (2,250 tons) of domestic rapeseed production for oil extraction, thereby supporting farmers and striving to increase self-sufficiency.
3. We do not use chemical synthetic agents or food additives in our manufacturing process.General salad oil is extracted using a combination of pressing and extraction methods. The extraction method uses normal hexane (petroleum-related product) to dissolve out the remaining oil from the raw material to the utmost extent after pressing. Furthermore, in the refining process, phosphoric acid, oxalic acid, caustic soda, and activated clay are used for efficient refining. We extract oil using only the pressing method, and in the refining process, we use "hot water washing method (patented process)" which involves mixing hot water with the oil and washing it multiple times. We also do not add silicone (antifoaming agent) to our products.
* Depending on the quality of the raw seeds, naturally derived citric acid, activated carbon, or acid clay (raw earth) may be used in the refining process.
Nutritionally Balanced Vegetable Oil "Rapeseed Oil"Oils are composed of multiple fatty acids. Commonly heard fatty acids include oleic acid, linoleic acid, linolenic acid, and medium-chain fatty acids. All fatty acids are beneficial to the human body, and due to media reports and other influences, people tend to consume them unevenly, but there is a desirable intake ratio. According to data from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, it is desirable to consume them in the order of ω-9 series > ω-6 series > ω-3 series. (*) Olive oil is rich in oleic acid but lacks linoleic acid. Perilla oil, which has recently been featured in the media, is too low in oleic acid, which should be consumed the most. Coconut oil is too low in oleic acid and essential fatty acids. Rapeseed oil contains ω-9, 6, and 3 series fatty acids in ideal intake ratios, making it a balanced oil among vegetable oils.
