The Be With Records edition of the masterpiece second album by Coastlines, the golden duo of Masanori Ikeda and Takumi Kaneko! After making a striking debut with "Coastlines EP" in the summer of 2018, followed by "Coastlines EP2" in January 2019 and their first album "Coastlines" that same summer, the group gained instant global attention in the chill-out and Balearic scenes. Their releases through the prestigious British label Be With Records further solidified their reputation. This second full-length album, "Coastlines 2," was originally released in the early summer of 2022.
For this release, they intentionally avoided pre-album single cuts, featuring 12 tracks of their best work, all appearing here for the first time!
Masanori Ikeda, who boasts a long career as a DJ and producer and continues his unique activities today, once again teams up with Takumi Kaneko, a keyboardist active in various projects such as cro-magnon. Their collection of songs—constructed with library music elements that evoke relaxed scenery like coastlines—has been further refined for this release.
The album consists of 10 original tracks and 2 covers. It opens with "Tenderly," featuring the beautiful, "magic hour" sounds of gently played organ, guitar, marimba, and synths. While the tempo varies from track to track, the entire second album is filled with sounds and grooves that are consistently comfortable, moving slowly toward the sunrise.
The two cover songs were selected with the duo's unique aesthetic eye: "Mile High Swinger," a track full of mellowness from the library album *Synthesizer and Percussion* released under the name Alan Hawkshaw & Brian Bennett, and "Alicia," a sophisticated fusion track by Gabor Szabo.
