The "Shiawase no Mon'yō" (Patterns of Happiness) series focuses on the "meaning of wishing for happiness" inherent in traditional Japanese patterns. It is an original design created in collaboration with textile designers for Fuwa Market.
One of the series, the Pine pattern, symbolizes "longevity and eternal youth" because it retains green leaves throughout the year and withstands harsh cold weather.
The motifs, considered auspicious, have been modernized to suit contemporary lifestyles.
✔ Dedicated craftsmanship: Each piece is carefully dyed at a dyeing factory in Kyoto.
✔ Modern traditional patterns: Three types of patterns available in two colors each, offering a variety of choices.
✔ High durability: Made from thick, tightly woven canvas (No. 11), ensuring strength and longevity.
✔ Perfect for special gifts: "Shiawase no Mon'yō" conveys heartfelt wishes through its design.
The clutch purse measures approximately 20cm in height, 16cm in width, with a 2.5cm gusset. It is the ideal size for smartphones and mini wallets, perfect for quick outings.
The wide opening allows for easy visibility of contents, enabling quick access even when in a hurry.
The shoulder strap is adjustable to accommodate a wide range of users, from petite women to taller individuals. It is removable, so the purse can also be used as a pouch or small accessory case.
Suitable for everyday use such as walks and shopping, as well as travel secondary bags, matching with yukata or kimono, or for special outings. It adds a touch of Japanese elegance to daily life.
Experience the charm of handcrafted dyeing techniques.
The clutch features Fuwa Market’s original textile design. It is made from traditional canvas fabric from the domestic brand "Fujikinbai," woven carefully one piece at a time using a rare shuttle loom.
This high-quality canvas is hand-dyed by artisans at a dyeing factory in Kyoto. The traditional techniques produce rich colors and a unique texture.
Close-up images reveal the delicate layering of colors characteristic of hand dyeing. Subtle gradations and bleeding enhance the handcrafted feel, creating a one-of-a-kind beauty.
Each piece is dyed meticulously, resulting in depth and warmth that cannot be achieved with simple printing.
The finishing touches highlight Japanese beauty and craftsmanship. Every time you use it, you can feel the meaning behind traditional patterns and the skill of Japanese artisans.
Please experience the warmth and texture created by skilled craftsmanship.
The Pine Pattern: Wishes and Prayers
Pine is a symbol of prosperity.
It is a plant loved by the Japanese for centuries as a sacred symbol. Its evergreen leaves during winter symbolize "longevity and eternal youth," and the fact that male and female flowers bloom on the same plant signifies "prosperity of descendants."
Since the Edo period, pine has been regarded as a divine plant, depicted on Noh stage walls, used to make kadomatsu (New Year’s pine decorations) to welcome the Toshigami (New Year deity), and has become an essential part of both entertainment and daily life.
The vigorous vitality and beauty of pine continue to be cherished by many today.
Color options include a calming green tone, associated with healing, and a warm orange tone.
While subdued, these colors are distinctive and make excellent everyday accessories. The modern Japanese design also pairs well with yukata, kimono, and other traditional attire.
*Please note that since large fabric pieces are cut to produce each item, there may be individual differences in pattern placement.*
