| Church's was founded in 1873 in Northampton, a town famous for shoemaking. Church's welt shoes are manufactured using the Goodyear welt method, involving 250 processes per pair. Church's features a complex technique called the Goodyear welt method, which takes about 8 weeks to produce. The inside of the shoes is lined with backskin, making them less likely to cause blisters. The leather used is of the highest quality collected from around the world. The last, called "73," has been inherited since the founding; it feels heavy and stiff at first but becomes comfortable and stable with wear. Additionally, it has excellent moisture absorption and desorption properties, making it less tiring to wear for long periods.
