It is a new fiber spun by a unique process, fusing rayon made from chitin and chitosan extracted from the shells of red snow crabs and wood pulp cellulose.

Chitin and chitosan are natural polysaccharides found abundantly in crab and shrimp shells. Approximately 100 billion tons are produced annually on Earth, making them the second most abundant after cellulose. They also possess proven antibacterial properties and are effective against bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, which is implicated in hospital-acquired infections, as well as E. coli and Candida albicans.
Unlike conventional antibacterial treatments such as surface coating or kneading, chitin is incorporated directly into the fiber. Therefore, there is little concern about the active ingredients peeling off or dissolving even after repeated washing, and excellent antibacterial effects are stably maintained and exhibited.
