**Overview**
The original work is a comic of the same name by Tomohiro Koizumi, renowned for its cult popularity due to its depiction of the fluctuating emotions and distorted feelings of young people (published by Aoyama Kōgeisha). Published in 2001 and highly popular, it was considered impossible to adapt into a film—yet it has finally been made into a movie, the "pinnacle" of virginity-themed manga.
The awkward, pathetic yet somehow lovable "Cherry Boys" feature a cast of emerging young actors.
- Kuni Mori: Played by Kento Hayashi, known for versatile performances in "Namiya Zakkaten no Kiseki" and "HiGH&LOW THE MOVIE."
- Yoshimura: Played by Shuntaro Yanagi, active as a distinctive actor in works like "Tokyo Ghoul" and "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable Part 1," while also working as a model for "MEN'S NON-NO."
- Takasugi: Played by Tomoya Maeno, a young talented supporting actor known for "Katte ni Furuetero," "Usobaka," and more, who gained attention as the "Momotaro" in the "au Sandaime Series" CM.
Their earnest efforts at silly endeavors evoke much laughter and empathy.
The heroine, Fueko, played by Elaiza Ikeda, becomes a Madonna-like figure among the three. She has appeared in refreshing youth films such as "Ichirei shite, Kiss" and "Tori Girl!" and also takes on daring scenes in her challenging roles.
The screenplay is based on the work of Daisuke Matsui, known for directing "Azumi Haruko wa Yukue Fumei" and other films, and recognized as a creator with a unique worldview. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Kenichiro Nishikai.
The theme song is "GO!GO!Cherry Boy!" by the rock unit MANNISH BOYS, consisting of Kazuyoshi Saito and Tatsuya Nakamura. Although released in 2014, it is a pre-existing song, and this collaboration—connecting to the "Cherry Boys"—is a dream come true!
**Story**
In a certain regional city, three clueless guys—"Kunni" (Kuni Morii), a boastful guy struggling with his music career in Tokyo; "Bitchiku" (Tatsuya Yoshimura), a handsome guy with a nipple complex; and "Kauper" (Makoto Takasugi), a typical otaku—are all 25 and still virgins. Their conversations and thoughts revolve solely around their frustrations with the world and women and sex.
These men, labeled as losers, target the local gossip-monger Shaku Fueko and hatch an outrageous plan to change their lives and themselves.
