■Features/NotesGothic horror action game. This is the first NINTENDO 64 title in the Castlevania series and the series' first 3D work. Players choose between two protagonists: Reinhardt Schneider, a descendant of the Belmont clan and wielder of the ancestral holy whip, the Vampire Killer; and Carrie Belnades, a young girl descended from the magical Vernades clan who attacks with magic. They head to Dracula's castle to seal the resurrected Count Dracula. The tagline is "Blood of Destiny, Battle of Fate." Players select one of the two characters to start the game. The setting is Dracula's castle in the same year, 1852, but the two characters have separate scenarios. The stage routes include common stages for both characters as well as exclusive stages, with different boss enemies and events. The basic system is stage-clear 3D action. Depending on the stage, there are also puzzle-solving and exploration elements, making it an action-adventure game.
