Eugenio De La Chiara (Guitar)
Recording: December 3-5, 2022
Forum Della Chiara, Pesaro (Italy)
Total duration: 57 minutes
An album that includes all works for guitar by Catalan composers Gaspar Cassadó and Federico Monpau, who were of the same generation. Cassadó, who was an excellent cellist, developed a close relationship with Andrés Segovia and composed six guitar pieces. All are based on Catalan folk dances. Most of the works left by pianist Monpau are piano pieces, but "Song and Dance No. 10" was originally a piano piece arranged for guitar by Monpau himself, and "Compostela Suite" was dedicated to Segovia. All of these works have a lyrical, meditative atmosphere characteristic of Monpau’s unique style of piano music.
The performer, Eugenio De La Chiara, is a guitarist born in Pesaro in 1990. He has performed concerts across Japan and Europe, released three albums with DECCA, actively collaborates with contemporary composers, and has received over 20 dedications of works.
