Grinding aspherical lens Aspherical lens
Spherical aberration correction for large-aperture lenses, distortion correction for wide-angle lenses, miniaturization of zoom lenses. The solution to these three themes is the aspherical lens.



UD lens
More lenses for ideal chromatic aberration correction. Developed under this theme, the UD Ultra Low Dispersion lens features optical materials with low refractive and low dispersion properties, effective at removing secondary spectrum, with abnormal dispersion characteristics similar to fluorite, providing performance comparable to two fluorite lenses with just two elements.



Ring USM
USM Ultrasonic Motor = ultrasonic motor offers high torque, high response, enabling quick autofocus. It also features almost silent operation, making it ideal for lens drive.



Inner focus
A technology that makes part of the lens configuration focus group lenses and reduces the total weight of moving lenses. Enables fast, precise AF control, excellent holding balance, and compactness.


Full-time manual focus
