Features
A compact and stylish ultra-wide-angle zoom lens dedicated to the EOS M series, delivering overwhelming high image quality. Utilizing a wide angle equivalent to 18-35mm in 35mm format, it easily captures various scenes such as narrow indoor spaces where you cannot distance yourself from the subject, and large panoramas.
As the first in the EF lens series as a wide-angle zoom lens, it features image stabilization (IS) that performs well in handheld shooting with a snap shot feel. Also, with dynamic IS offering a wider stabilization range, it allows for confident shooting such as walking while recording videos.
By adopting lightweight focus lenses and a rear focus mechanism driven by a lead screw type stepping motor (STM), it achieves very quiet and smooth autofocus during both still photography and video recording.
Despite being an ultra-wide-angle zoom, the minimum focusing distance is 0.15m, and the maximum magnification ratio is 0.3x on the telephoto side, enabling closer-up shooting of subjects. You can enjoy expressions such as a main subject in close-up with a background that spreads out in a wide, ultra-wide world.
When using this lens with the 'EOS M', please update the firmware of the EOS M body to the latest version.
