Achieved the smallest and lightest in Canon's full-size EOS history. Including the battery and card, it weighs about 485g. We pursued ultimate camera compactness without compromising functions or performance. The result is a new full-size camera, EOS RP, that you can carry around anytime.

EOS RP lineup includes three kit lenses

RF24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM, approximately 395g, a lightweight, compact standard zoom lens. It also enables macro photography, recommended for first RF lens.
RF24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM, covers a wide focal length from wide-angle to telephoto. Features high-quality 10x zoom, fast and smooth autofocus, making it versatile for travel and daily use.
RF35mm F1.8 MACRO IS STM, a high-quality prime lens with F1.8 brightness and 9-blade circular aperture for beautiful bokeh. Compact and lightweight, suitable for macro photography of small objects and flowers.

DISIC 8, approximately 26.2 million pixel full-size CMOS sensor

Equipped with a self-developed, self-produced approximately 26.2 million pixel 35mm full-size CMOS sensor. Pursued high pixel count, high sensitivity, and low noise. The full-size sensor's large size maximizes lens bokeh. Achieves a wide dynamic range from highlights to shadows and smooth gradation. Also equipped with advanced DIGIC 8, enabling high image processing performance and achieving a standard ISO sensitivity of 40,000, producing clear images even at high ISO sensitivities.

Never miss a chance with high-speed autofocus Dual Pixel CMOS AF

Dual Pixel CMOS AF is Canon's proprietary AF technology realized by sensors where all pixels perform both imaging and phase difference AF. It allows focusing over a wide area of the imaging surface and enables high-precision, speedy autofocus even in scenes where AF is generally difficult, such as in dark scenes.

During AF, focus is measured within approximately 88mm horizontally and 100mm vertically of the image display area. However, with some lenses, it becomes approximately 80mm horizontally and vertically.

Focus in low light Low-light AF limit EV 5

The low-light AF limit is EV -5, allowing focus even in near-dark conditions. When it is difficult to confirm the situation with an optical finder, the electronic viewfinder (EVF) provides a clear view for shooting.

According to Canon testing standards, during still image shooting at F1.2, central focus point, one-shot AF, at room temperature, ISO 100. When shooting in low-light environments, the EVF frame rate may decrease.

Effective for moving subjects Servo AF compatible Eye AF

Equipped with Eye AF that detects the subject's eyes and focuses. EOS RP supports Servo AF and can reliably track the eyes of moving subjects (people). When using telephoto lenses, it quickly focuses and automatically tracks even for subjects difficult to focus on with single-point AF due to camera shake. By default, it automatically selects the eye closer to the camera.

Face + Tracking Priority AF sometimes functions. When the face and camera are at similar distances, it selects the eye closer to the center of the screen. Manual selection is also possible by touching the eye within the face selection frame or moving the AF frame with the cross keys and AF frame selection button.

Continuous shooting at about 5.0 frames per second (fps) maximum

Can shoot continuously at about 5.0 fps while maintaining approximately 26.2 million pixels. The maximum number of continuous shots is about 42 frames in RAW+JPEG Large Fine mode. When using RF lenses, high-speed display mode can be selected to improve frame rate, supporting framing during continuous shooting.

AF operation is single-shot AF. For detailed shooting conditions, see the manufacturer's website. Testing was conducted using a standard SD card (32GB) according to our standards, with high-speed continuous shooting, still image crop, full-frame aspect ratio, ISO 100, and standard picture style.

Touch & AF operation while looking through the viewfinder

Since it has a touch panel, all operations can be performed by touch.

Adopts Touch & AF that allows adjusting focus position with a touch panel while looking through the finder. Supports absolute position (specifying focus point with a finger) and relative position (moving focus point by sliding from the current position). The touch area has 9 options, allowing customization according to the shooter's style, such as operation with the left hand or reach of the thumb. Also, AF movement during video recording with the finder is comfortable.

Smart transfer to smartphone and PC

Even if the camera is in a bag, you can view images on your smartphone, import only new images, and connect smartly with your smartphone. Additionally, just placing the powered-on camera near a PC automatically backs up to the PC.

You need to install the app "Camera Connect" on your smartphone and pair it with the camera. You also need to install the app "Image Transfer Utility 2" on your PC and pair it with the camera.

New possibilities for 4K video unleashed by the EOS R system

The high sensitivity performance of EOS RP and the expressive power of RF lenses expand the range of 4K video expression through the collaboration of two high-quality technologies. Enjoy diverse video expressions with RF lenses and over 70 types of EF lenses, unique to EOS.

Furthermore, powerful image stabilization expands handheld shooting possibilities. When using RF lenses with built-in IS, the camera detects and compensates for shake that the lens-side IS cannot fully correct, enhancing stabilization.

Images are output at 4K UHD resolution through image processing. AF is contrast-detection AF. Check the manufacturer's website for compatible lenses.
