The DR-C125 employs the "retard method." When two documents are fed at once, the retard roller rotates in the opposite direction of the document transport,
separating the documents and feeding them one by one. This suppresses scanning errors due to document double feeding and enables speedy continuous scanning.
Additionally, a "non-separation mode" has been included for scanning multi-part forms such as carbon copy slips or A3 half-folded documents.

It also features "ultrasonic double feed detection" that stops transport and alerts to double feeding.
During transport, the upper sensor emits ultrasonic waves, which are received by the lower sensor.
When it detects that multiple documents have been fed together, it automatically stops transport, supporting scans without data loss.
