Pixel Count
Equipped with a newly developed CMOS sensor with approximately 8.2 million effective pixels (22.5 x 15.0 mm). By increasing the size of the microlenses compared to the CMOS sensor used in the "10D" and halving the gap between microlenses, a wide ISO sensitivity range of ISO 100-1600 (expandable to 3200) has been achieved. Noise has also been reduced during high ISO shooting, enabling astronomical photography. The lens focal length is extended by 1.6x.
New Image Engine
The "DIGIC II" image engine improves color reproduction for subjects with high saturation and brightness. It has a wide dynamic range, expressing subjects with high contrast in smooth gradations. It shows tenacity even in areas that tend to blow out. High-speed image data processing and low power consumption have also been achieved.
Monochrome Mode
With the "Monochrome Mode" added to the development parameters, you can enjoy shooting similar to using black and white film. Contrast and sharpness can be set in 5 steps each, with filter effects (yellow/orange/red/green) and toning (sepia/blue/purple/green) available.
Camera Operability
Startup time is a fast approximately 0.2 seconds. The focus points, which were arranged in a cross shape on the "10D", have been increased by 2 and changed to a diamond shape with 9 points. To change the focus points to a diamond shape, a multi-controller has been equipped for quick selection of focus points, making focusing more comfortable.
